How to make my waist slimmer and lose some fat on my belly?

I have belly fat and I really need to trim down my waistline a bit and lose the stubborn abdominal fat. I cannot wear the blouses that I like because I have to hide the fat in my abdomen and the sides. It's just so unflattering to look at.
Can anyone suggest any exercise regimen to flatten my abdomen and make my waist slimmer? Please suggest something else than sit-ups and crunches.

Try doing more intense shorter workouts, the kind that get you out of breath fast. Try doing this with running, swimming and your sit-ups/crunches. The more intense, the more fat burned. If your not in shape for those yet just eat right and exercise regularly at your own pace, its the best way.

Although ab workouts don't get rid of the fat there, you will build your abs up. It's best to stay consistent with anaerobic and aerobic workouts (simple weight training combined with cardio). Keep your diet right and go on walks/runs regularly and you will notice the results in no time!
