Is peak oil a serious matter of concern or is it a pure invention from radical environmentalists?

Should we believe that?
The fact that we are even getting close enough to a situation where peak oil is or may be reached is the actual concern, not weather it is invented or not. The fact that we are experiencing a dwindling oil supply because of supply and demand such that this condition is even getting to be an issue means that we have already released far to much carbon form the carbon storage of the earth. It took billions of years to store it all away and now it has been released back into our environment in just a couple of hundred years!
